Tech related hobbies:

I like tweaking around with my devices. I mostly prefer tweaking with the software and thats why I have been using arch linux since 2023. Before trying arch I tried some other distros like ubuntu or parrot in my laptop but I just found them harder to use than windows and kinda boring. However when I tried arch and I got to know more about how everything worked and got into customization I started to enjoy using linux and customizing stuff. I started with hyprland so I could tweak almost everything and I tried multiple configurations for the top bar, the windows behavior, the main menu, widgets, etc. I got so into it than a few months later I switched completly to linux in my main desktop pc as well. Of course I also ran into a lot of issues (specially with nvidia drivers) but that also helped me learn even more about the modular nature of the kernel and how the os is layered. With time I have also tried some other distros like debian or fedora. And while I appreciate the stability the one thing that kept me on arch was the aur. Using yay or another aur helper to install almost anything instead of having to compile it yourself, adding a custom repository, having to download an installer or running a flatpak is too comfortable for me to pass. And while I could use other arch based distros like cachy os Im a fan of installing the minimal original version and just add what I want to.

I obviously also like networking a lot which is why I made all these homelabbing projects on my raspberry to begin with. I already talked about what I currently have in the main page. Therefore I will use this to talk about other stuff. For example one of the first if not the first thing that I self hosted on the raspberry was a sync server for a manga reader app. The app had a sync feature but you had to host your own server for it. I used it for some months but they changed it a few times and one time I just couldnt make it work. Im not sure what they changed but I could get it to run and create the account since I could see it in the database but then I couldn't log in. I tried both bare metal installation and docker but it still didnt work. Im still not sure what was going on but that make me dislike docker since the whole point is to be equal in every machine so it will always work yet it wasnt working, but now I have the whole server running on docker containers. Another thing that I use the raspberry for is for syncing files. I use syncthing in the raspberry as a central node between my devices since the raspberry its always supposed to be online so the files can always sync without problem and I can have a better modification history management without cluttering the folders in the other devices.

When it comes to hardware im not as much of a fan of tweaking around mainly because neither electronic nor screws are my strongest points. however I have done some things related to hardware. For example I've built more than one computer and also somewhat repaired a second hand ps vita that I bought. The vita had a problem of draining battery and at firt I thought it would be just the battery since the problem persisted even with the console completely turned off. However when I got a new battery the same happened and then I realized that when the battery was disconnected there were no problems but with the battery connected the battery drained even when completely off. After some tests I found the culpript to be the wifi module that unfortunately is solded into the motherboard. I dont have the tools nor knowledge to replace that so the only solution for me is to replace the whole motherboard. But im waiting to find a cheap one because the ones I found are almost as expensive as the vita. But if I find a replacement for a good price I will make the motherboard swap.
